REVIEW: Soleil Tan De Chanel

Whether it be Summer, Winter, Autumn, Spring the much loved bronzer is certainly a product we religiously use. This cream bronzer is a natural winner......

Soleil Tan De Chanel

Soleil Tan De Chanel
Packaging: Plastic

Size: 30gm

Cost & Cost Per Gram (estimate):
AU       $78 / $2.60
USA     $48 / $1.60
Euro     €40 / €1.35
Pound   £32/ £1.05

Consistency: Creme

How to apply? Can be applied with a flat foundation brush, stippling brush, buffing brush, sponge and fingers.

Who will it suit? To get a rough idea my foundation colour is Chanel 40, Giorgio Armani 7, MUFE 155 or MAC Face & Body C4. If you are similar or slightly darker it will be fine anyone much darker Id recommend skipping this product. Very light and pink under toned skins should be careful when applying it. Ensure you start of lightly and blend, blend, blend!

PRO'S - I really really like this bronzer and it has a matte finish.......thats what you want in a bronzer!! The colour is quite natural and can be applied to give a lovely warm bronzed glow. The formula is very easy to work with so ideal for beginners and the under-colour of the product is not orange but more of a caramel tone. As there is only one colour available there is no stress in choosing the right one!!

CONS - The packaging is quite big so if you like to carry your bronzer in your bag ensure you take a suitcase to accommodate. The only other disadvantage is if you have dark to very dark skin you wont get much use from it - the depth is not there.

If this product is not for you maybe try:
Chantecaille Radiance Gel Bronzer
Hourglass Illume Creme to Powder
Two Faced Bronzer

L'ete De Papillon De Chanel Summer 2013 Collection

L'ete De Papillon De Chanel Summer 2013 Collection

Thanks to a gorgeous friend, I was fortunate enough to try selected products from the much anticipated L'ete De Papillon De Chanel Summer 2013 Collection. Chanel is notorious for releasing innovative and amazing products come the change of season and this is with no exception.

Chanel's Summer Collection only just recently launched in Australia (ironic its winter!) but seems it was sent to brighten up our gloomy days ahead. The inspiration for the range was taken from the extraordinary blue coloured Papillon - or as most of us would know them Butterfly.

The range is vibrant, luminous and colourful! My absolute favourite from the collection are the waterproof coloured mascara. Rarely do you find coloured mascara that actually when applied looks just as vibrant!

Below are the products I was lucky enough to try and to see them all in action check out my video further down:

Chanel Inimitable Waterproof Mascara Multi-Dimensional -
Lime Light
My favourite of the range (and it was tough to decide!) was their new Inimitable Waterproof Mascara Multi-Dimensional - Lime Light. It comes in a range of vibrant, bright, fresh colours that I can happily say remain that way when applied. This particular colour is a must and looks so beautiful on summer skin! Wear it alone or part of a smokey eye to make a statement. Oh and its waterproof....no running mascara for us!

Chanel Summer Stylo Eyeshadow #47 Blue Ray
As stated it has a cooling, water infused formula that you really can sense when applying. It glides on effortlessly and finishes with a very pretty shimmery icy blue. Its long wearing too so ideal for a hot summer evening! Personally, this colour isn't ideal for my eye colour (dark brown) or skin tone (olive) but there are plenty in the range to choose from so go for your life!

Chanel Summer Stylo Eyeshadow #47 Blue Ray

Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof Eyeliner #57 True Blue
Blue, Green, brown eyed people take note......this will look AMAZING on you!!! I totally love this liner. Another waterproof, smudge proof product making it perfect for summer wear. No need for wastage it has wind up/down packing that rids you of your sharpener and because its silicone loaded it glides on like a dream!

Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof Eyeliner #57 True Blue

Chanel Le Vernis 667 Bel-Argus Nail Colour
This electrifying blue colour is just amazing!! Right on trend and perfect for a summers day. A couple of coats will give you a gorgeous deep sea blue!

Nicole Richie Inspired Makeup!

Ive recently become a massive fan of The Voice Australia and I think it's due to the fact Joel Madden is a judge - Im just being honest! In true Australian style we have claimed him as one of ours, and I have no doubt we will somehow convince the rest of the world that he is Australian......in one way or another!

And with Joel, comes the ever beautiful Nicole Richie. I absolutely adore that gorgeous thing! Starting from her fashion, makeup and sweet disposition! I've recently fallen in love with her new hair cut which has me thinking I may just have to conform to a NR mini her!!

I recently saw Nicole on Fashion Star, where she is a mentor to a group of up and coming designers. She had the most incredible makeup on and I wanted to recreate the look for you all. When researching her look it became very apparent she has her own style. If not for the show and red carpet appearances, her most worn look is beautiful creamy skin, natural toned smokey eyeshadows with a defined liquid eyeliner and nude lips. I have chosen this look, from the show,  as I think it looked sensational on her. Hope you like it x

Professional Interview Makeup!

Job interviews are absolutely nerve racking and you want to feel absolutely comfortable in every aspect. Just like preparing what you want to say I also think the makeup you wear on the day plays a huge part. No potential employer wants to see caked on makeup, massive false lashes or bright pink lipstick........unless its a particular job you're going for *wink *wink!!

Hopefully this may prepare you in the makeup  department. Keep your nails neat, clean with a soft coloured polish and dont go overboard with the jewellery!!!

Alexa Chung Inspired Makeup!

This Alexa Chung requested inspired tutorial is simple and very easy to achieve. When researching her look, Alexa's everyday makeup is pretty much identical, her thin long liner and half way liner/shadow on the bottom lash line is evident in almost all her photos. I love her style and look - "preppy meets grandma"! So cute x

Cream Eyeshadows……what an improvement!

I. Just. Got. My. Hands. On. The. New. Chanel Illusion D'Ombre Long Wear Eyeshadow.

Feeling quite puffed up like a rooster having been given the opportunity to try this amazing product. It has yet to be released in Australia and of course being a lady I will not reveal my supply source ;P Give it a couple of weeks and you too can try it.

Generally I'm a huge fan of cream eyeshadows. They have come a long long way from the greasy creasey type we all remember and what's even better they have sensational staying power. They blend so well and can help create depth to powder eyeshadows when worn together.

So, when I twisted the lid off the Chanel Illusion D'Ombre - Epatent 84 my smile grew wider to find an intensely shimmery khaki cream. It glides on beautifully as an eyeshadow but can also be used as an eyeliner with the specially designed shadow - liner brush (yep you get this cite shadow liner brush too). I'm in LOVE!

There are 6 intense shades to choose from:

Fantasme: A whitish silvery colour
Emervielle: A peachy goldy colour
Epatent: A khaki colour
Illusoire: A cool shimmer brown/eggplant
Ebloui: A warm bronze colour
Mirifique: Black glittery colour

They retail at $48 each, which, too be honest is not THAT much considering one pot will last you a while AND you get that cute brush.

I'm off to experiment some more……. stay tuned for the pics!

One base - 3 lips!

Lip colour can make a world of difference to any ones makeup. Whether you select a lipstick, gloss, tint, pigment or even glitter it can totally change the outcome of the overall look.

Don't believe me? Below are some examples of how three different colours and even shapes (for fun!!) can look completely different. Remember I haven't changed anything else but the lip product.

Before you go slapping your lipstick on PLEASE remember flaky dry lips are sooooo not attractive. For a quick do it yourself gentle lip exfoliate mix a little baking soda with some water and gently rub it over your lips.  Then smother on lip balm and let it do its job!!

MAC Cremesheen Gloss in Boy Bait

NARS Bloodwork lipgloss & MAC red glitter

Chanel Noir  Obscurs - Hysteria
MAC studio fix to block lips out.

Have fun with lipstick - there is a shade out there for everyone….if not 10!

(Brilliant) Makeup on a budget!

Now, lets get one thing straight…….. makeup. does. not. need. to. be. expensive!

For the everyday person there are definitely things I wouldn't recommend you skimp on: foundation, concealers and most cases eyeshadows, bronzers and powders! Everything else you can look for cheaper alternatives and can often can find amazing products. Today I did.

I am the first to admit I am a sucker for buying expensive products knowing they are of great quality and being a makeup artist I cant go without. Today I took a stroll into Priceline (people in the UK thats the equivalent to Boots or Superdrug) and want to share my great finds that anyone can afford with many products having multiple uses.

From Bourjois Paris www.bourjois.com.au I purchased sensational liquid eyeliners in purple and blue, 2 blushers and 2 creamy highly pigmented coloured pencils. I am not too surprised how good of quality they are as they come out of the CHANEL factory!! And if that isn't enticing enough….they don't test on animals.

Savvy a very non expensive brand with some great baked mineral eyeshadows.

Rimmel and Maybeline have some awesome mascaras and lipgloss.

So now you have an excuse to do some major shopping……..

This is the amazing long lasting blue liner.

So feeling sorry for myself!

Ok, so Im at home, sick and feeling completely sorry for myself…..you'd think Im a man!

By mistake, I took a glimpse in the mirror and almost dry-reached at the site of my complexion. If feeling like death isn't enough I now look like it. So I guess this is where the topic of foundation comes into it.

I loathe the site of foundation on people. It shouldn't be used to render your face (yes, growing up I too was a victim of this) but instead it should be used to even out your skin tone and often enhance it.

Obviously if you are blessed with good skin a light tinted moisturiser or sheer foundation such as MAC Face & Body or Chanel Pro Lumiere is more then sufficient. For people with problem skin DON'T think you have to wear a very thick cover - if anything it will only draw more attention to your skin. Choose a long lasting, good coverage foundation such as Lancome Teint Idole Utlral 14hr or Mac Studio Fix and set with a translucent powder to help it set. The trick is to blend blend and blend!

My all time favourite that suits most skin types is Giorgio Armani Lasting Silk UV Foundation SPF 20. It has an incredible finish, lasts forever and protects your skin against horrible UV rays. I use this on most brides and on the majority of shoots!! Its not cheap but worth every $.
